It was almost a year ago that I began the process to have Born of Water released as an audiobook. How fitting that the first book I published also became my first audio!
The funny thing is, I LOVE music and constantly have my iPod with me. But I wasn’t big into audiobooks back then. But it was a new branch and ACX has made it fairly easy to navigate audiobook production. So I wanted to give it a try. Listening to the auditions got me hooked!
I totally love them now and learned so much about audio, audio quality, and narration techniques, which has definitely helped me when I have to narrate like my recent interview over at Blog Talk Radio with Culture Shock hosted by Jamie White and Michelle Cornwell-Jordan.
If you want to hear me narrate an exciting 7 minutes of Chapter 12 from Born of Water, have a listen to this clip! Jump to 18:26 to hear my narration of chapter 12. Though you might want to rewind a bit further to hear a secret tip about those chapter names …
Not horrible for a first timer reading live on radio. However, I HIGHLY recommend listening to a professional handle the narration! Like this clip from Born of Water, chapter 3, narrated by the very skilled Thom Bowers!
Isn’t he awesome? He really makes the whole book jump to life with just the right enthusiasm, pauses, and tone.
The exciting news is Born of Water won’t be alone much longer! Both Rule of Fire, book 2, AND Spirit of Life are in the final weeks of audiobook production! Ian McEuan is doing an awesome job with Rule of Fire and wait until you hear Brandon McKernan’s narration of Spirit of Life!! Expect updates soon. You are going to love these books as much as I do. 😀
I don’t want my dystopian series Friends of my Enemy to feel excluded though. So yes, the rumors are TRUE! Stories from the War is in production as well. Brian Grace is doing an amazing job on the narration and it was his recent upload of First Meeting that got me itching to share it. You should hear the confrontation between Michael and Arinna at the end! Of course, as I debated how much of an audio clip I could share from a book that is still very much in the early stages of production that made me realize, I have a whole book already available and two more on the way to pick from too. Duh.
Expect to hear samples from all the books and maybe a giveaway too … because it is going to be amazing to have the whole Rise of the Fifth Order trilogy in audio!
Until then, you can Born of Water on audio at Amazon, Audible, and iTunes!
