Milestones are meant to be celebrated!
Born of Water was the FIRST ebook I published waaaay back in 2012. Oh, I know the current listing on Amazon says May 2015, but that is part of a long story involving a very brief episode with a publisher that made me realize I can do a heck of a lot better if I’m the one handling my books!
But if you know where to look on Goodreads, you can find the original publication date (along with the very poor original cover!)
That means that Born of Water turned six years old just a few days ago!
Six years and such a journey. I have 14 books out now, including the new release of Untold Stories from the World of Myrrah. Gates of Fire & Earth was nominated for Best Book of 2017 by Fantasia Reviews and won Best Worldbuilding. I’ve hit #1 on Amazon several times, including Born of Water at least two times that I can count (I hate to think I’ve forgotten one… but six years!!!)
And those two pictures also show that the book has undergone a few cover changes – four, actually! But what got me writing this post before memory lane snatched me on a fickle meander is that Born of Water also just hit another milestone this month.
It now has over 200 reviews on Amazon!
And part of what is so cool about that, is that it still has a 4.4 star rating! This is my first baby and I’ve learned so much since writing it. But readers still love it, even if I think the later books are where the story really shines.
Of course, researching the original publication date made me realize that the book also has 550 ratings and 89 writen reviews on Goodreads. My goodness, I should pay attention to my stats once in a while! lol.
But that is me. I tend to look ahead.
And what’s ahead is so exciting! This year, I will be releasing at least one novella set in a new world with with new characters. Born to Darkness, the first story of my new series Black Blood, Black Throne is written and just needs editing (and a cover. Darn it, I have to work on that cover!!).
I’ve begun work in another new story the Light in the Darkness, part of the Cailite Ré series, and mean to finish it in the next couple of months. Which means I really need to get in the habit of writing everyday again and stop letting the craziness of life take over. And another story is rattling in my brain with a desire to be told…
Words have become my blood and form new stories as they flow through my veins.
I need to write. I love writing. And, looking back, I see that is a good thing. Because readers have loved what I’ve written and I love to share it.
I can’t wait to see what 2019 holds!
