Not every homecoming is a celebration…
When Lavinia and Ty return to their parent’s home after the battle in Drufforth found at the end of Spirit of Life, it is with the excitement and news of a marriage. But Ria’s return heralds hard truths and the knowledge she has become what her family has most feared.
I’ve always wondered what happened after Spirit of Life. There is a 6-month gap between the final book in the Rise of the Fifth Order Trilogy and Spark of Defiance, the first book in Games of Fire. That time full of rebuilding and healing, well healing for some, is important!
Spirit of Life ends with Lavinia, Ty, Darag, Ria, Ci’erra, Zhao, and Laireag agreeing to journey together to Mirocyne. So that was the first stop when I began writing short stories from this unwritten time. They started with Return to Mirocyne: Ty & Lavinia. After that, came the Black Marsh, a novella featuring Laireag that is currently only available through the Storms of Fate & Fury boxset!
And this month, after a weekend plus of website issues that have been finally resolved, I’m releasing Return to Mirocyne: Ria!
Ria’s story is not as fearless and bold as Lavinia’s. Her family has been persecuted by the Church for longer than Ria has been alive. She grew in the emptiness of lost relatives and fear for what may come as each child is presented, only once, to a Priest or Priestess. Ria is the first to find the answer… and the first to return with the news of what became of lost family members.
Read the story of her return as she faces the frightened child that she was and the parent’s who raised her to be anything other than what she has become! And don’t forget to check out other stories from the World of Myrrah on the Untold Stories page!
