The truth is when an idea for a story strikes me, I often end up writing down entire scenes as much as notes to capture a bit of the magic it holds. That is how this piece of flash fiction was born.
It is a scene set between the end of one book (or maybe a whole trilogy) and the beginning of the next in a world that is fantasy scifi (spaceships and swords! Think Firefly but with swords and not guns). Of course, none of the books have been written. But the scene was so pivotal and hinted at many of the events of the first book(s) that I ended up writing it. Let me know what you think, and if it intrigues you enough you want the remainder of the story to be born!
Caroline Ruth Molloy –
I like it,even with not reading the book(s) before this!

Masterful, as always. This short story introduces an entire trans-galactic empire, and gives a heady glimpse into its politics. The realistic characters and situations draw the reader in and whet the appetite for more. It raises questions, and answers some, but it only fails to be complete. It leaves you wanting the “rest of the story”. Autumn has done it again.
