I’m a fantasy author at heart, I know, but one of my favorite things I’ve written has no magic in it. In fact, it isn’t even fantasy. More post-apocalyptic sci-fi with a hefty dose of romance.
To me, it all comes down to characters and some of my favorite are in Friends of my Enemy. They came to me fully formed and with quite the set of personalities! Without magic, the characters have to solve problems with wits and a few explosives … who can argue with that?
But what makes this series even more fun besides the quirky characters, the tension, love, and explosions is how the narrator for the series, Brian Grace, brings the characters to life. He is AMAZING!
Seriously, he can voice Captain Jared Vries (South African), Arinna Prescot (American), Derrick Eldridge (British), and Byran Vasquez (Spanish) in a handful of sentences so well that you’d think there were three other people in the room.
