I strive to write amazing fantasy novels. Every author does!

But despite all your best intentions, work, and belief, every author has that little wriggle of doubt that crawls through the back of our mind saying what we’ve created could be better. I’m not the best author out there. I still have things to learn. I KNOW that. But I try really hard to be darn good. Just sometimes, I wonder. Everyone has doubts.

So, a month or so ago when a friend directed me to Fantasia Reviews and I sent in a submission inviting them to check out any of my books, I felt a bit of… trepidation. Who wouldn’t?! Inviting a critical reviewer whose read dozens/hundreds of fantasy books to mull over your work… eep!

I pushed the submission out of my mind to continue writing and now editing A New Goddess. So when I saw Fantasia Reviews tweet they had just reviewed Spark of Defiance, my chair dropped out from under me. I took a deep breath before clicking on the link to read what they had to say.

OH. MY. GOSH.

Every author also hopes for praise, but I am still, days after reading the review, still in disbelief. I’m also excastic, on cloud 9, and totally floored! 😀

What do you say when a critical reviewer has something like this to say:

Solid A. THAT is the review rating. I’m tingly.

Seriously, this review has so many words of praise that I can’t make memes out of all of them. I want to hug the reviewers (if that is legal and not considered a bribe or harassment in any way). All I can do is thank them. Let them know they made me feel validated as an author in a way I hadn’t before the review (despite some amazing reviews from wonderful fans. Sometimes it just takes a bit to get through the very obtuse scull of a writer!).

And, of course, make some really awesome share images! 😀

I’m a quiet person who prefers writing and long hikes to loud social events. But THIS, this makes we want to shout to the world! So forgive me speaking praise about my own work, because today I feel like saying my stories are awesome! Don’t believe me, check out what Fantasia Reviews said in full!
